Introduction

I'm Perry Hood, I'm a 21 year old singer/song writer from Buckinghamshire

Bio

I first got into playing guitar around the age of 13 and after spending years playing guitar in local punk/hardcore bands I began to drift away from the scene and wanted to explore a new musical direction, I started to get into blues and folk music at about 18, shortly afterwards I started singing, after spending a year or so playing local open mic nights I decided to try and write my own lyrics and give it a go as a solo singer/song writer.

Q. How did you first get into playing music?

My dad found an old guitar in the loft one day and started learning to play it again and I thought it sounded cool and got him to start showing me some stuff

Q. How long have you been performing?

about 4-5 years

Q. How would you describe your sound in one sentence?

Raw, loud and honest

Q. What makes your music unique?

to be honest I don't try and be unique or different, it's just me and my guitar singing about whatever has happened to me recently.

Q. What inspires you to write songs?

Anything and everything, it's always different, sometimes something really huge might happen to me and I just have to write it down, other times I might just be walking along and have random lines just pop into my head that turn into a song.

Q. What have been your best and worst gig experiences?

Best: Playing at a local venue called the swan and the whole place was completely ramped out front to back and having every one sing along to a cover of oasis I threw into my set. Worst: Playing a small music fest in wycombe and having all the other acoustic acts pull out so i got moved to open the metal stage....did not go down to well

Q. If you had to listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be?

Daaaamn what a question! any album by the gaslight anthem.....will never get tired of Brian Fallon's voice

Q. What do you get up to when you’re not making music?

skating, chilling with mates, getting tattooed

Q. What are your goals at the moment?

Getting my new EP out Organising my first UK tour Have people sing along to my own songs at a show

Q. What have you been working on lately? Any new tracks or gigs lined up?

I've been working really hard on my writing to put out another EP at the end of the year and putting together a band to play with

Q. What do you think of Unsigned Band Review?

I think it's a great site to help out unsigned artists

Q. What is the name of the last track that you wrote and what is it about?

Last track I wrote is called 'Snow' basically it's just about being stood on Brighton beach with my girlfriend in the snow.....riveting story I know haha

Q. What was the music scene like where you grew up?

Well when I was growing up it was amazing! had bands like you me at six, enter shikari, fei comodo, we are the ocean, out of sight, lights and sounds, blue sky summer, the computers, the futures....so many others too just playing local venues every weekend and it was insane, now it's pretty much dead to everything except hardcore and it's stagnating fast in my opinion....theres still the odd talent keeping it alive, lakes in particular are a local band I'd love to see get huge
