Bio

agic Carpet Factory (MCF), an alternative rock and roll band from Hessle, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, were formed in February 2011. Influences of the band are, The Courteeners, Kasabian, Oasis, BRMC and The Black Keys. It was always the plan to write their own material but played covers at first to gel as a band and with things changing early in the year MCF used this change to their advantage. Bringing in a new lead guitarist they started writing and found it an easy process. They have said, ‘with Sam being in a band before, it was an easy transition into writing and performing our own material’, ‘it was the right time for us.’ With their four track EP ‘Feel The Magic’ looming, MCF are looking to take the band to the next level and are already getting in touch with promoters around then UK. A review at www.indiebandsblog.com said, ‘they work well in the New Wave recollections of Joy Division et al, in their rootsy 50’s rock-a-billy-but-when they head to the spaces of shoe gaze their abilities are best exposed with a delightful addition of a heavy bass line the quartet create something that really is attractive to the ears.’ Magic Carpet Factory Vocals and Rhythm Guitar – Adam Desforges Drums – Richard White Bass – Tom Briggs Lead Guitar – Sam Holness Adam, Rich and Tom have known each other since an early age going through school together. Rich played drums at school and so Adam and Tom decided to learn the guitar at the age of 21, the intent being to start up a band. They were three friends wanting to have a good time together and who all had a love of music. MCF met Sam through going to see local bands perform in and around Yorkshire and when a space became available Sam stepped out of his old band into the new Magic Carpet Factory in May 2012, to complete the four-piece rock and roll band. MCF’s story really starts from their, with a few changes (Tom moving to Bass and Sam taking on lead guitar) to start the ball rolling. The band started writing together, Sam would come to rehearsals with riffs that he had made, start jamming whilst the others set up and then one by one they would join in. MCF have definitely made a mark in the Yorkshire music scene, playing in well-established music venues in Hull, Hessle and Leeds. In fact, playing at the ‘Humber Street Sesh’ was a stepping-stone for supporting The Moons at Fruit (Humber Street, Hull) in September this year. They have headlined the Sesh (Linnet and Lark, Hull) and are going to be supporting All The Young on Friday 7th December at Fruit.
