  • I'm writing this review as I look out over a snow covered London. Within the first few seconds of the song I'm magically transported to summer in my late teens. This is a great thing. Gecko has done something that is so hard to achieve. It crossovers so many genres (ska, pop, rap, indie rock) whilst doing each one justice. The lyrics tell a story that everyone can relate. The song is friendly which is due to the vocal, which in all honesty isn't the strongest you will ever hear, but there is charm, relaxed tones which works perfectly. I can't wait for an LP so summer can last a little longer.

  • It's cool - I like it. It's upbeat. A very summery track. I can see myself with the roof down listening to this.

  • Picture a scene with your mates on a beach somewhere, chilled out, loving life, beers, BBQ and imagine one of your really cool, talented friends picks up his ukulele and starts singing... that's kind of the vibe I got when I heard this on first play! It's a instant pleaser, no bad energy, just punchy, edgy, fun and swinging...

  • Having been in the music scene since 2006, Gecko do not seem to stop. This youthful elixir of a band - composing of Will S.T on vocals, Si Cole on bass, and Ben McKone on drums as well as Gabriel Casey on key board, piano and everything else really - seem to deliver all the stops of a good jam. This acoustic experimental pop band produce a catchy mix of tunes which can be likened to the already well known acoustic man of the moment - Ed Sheeran. But unlike Ed Sheeran, Gecko's songs are not all emoing in your room or about some lost love and child (Still good though), but actually getting up and living life, while having a laugh. Gecko's 'Best Friend' is all about being with friends and just living each day. They have already performed with The King Blues, Sonic Boom Six, The Aggrolites and The Skints as well as a host of other known bands. Even though the Acoustic Guitar Pop genre has exploded everywhere with many bands experimenting this the style, Gecko is a firm contender in being the golden boys and staying your best friend in the gloomy autumn days to come. So curl up and tune in to Gecko.

  • Cheeky chappy youngstas go indie/tropical. It's well played and nicely Produced but, and this might just be me, I don't get on with the vocals. It's a little like if you took the Arctic Monkeys and took away the invention and anything that was plugged in.

  • Really refreshing ska-skewed pop, uplifting and good fun.

  • Gecko - that's a fantastic band name. I wish I'd have thought of that. So their song, What You Gonna Do, well, it's a hooky number for sure. Make no mistake, this song rocks, but I hear no distorted guitars or crash-out drumming, so how come? It's all achieved by the attitude the group pump into their cheeky lyrics and infectious tight acoustic grooving. I hear a little bit of Vampire Weekend in this, but it's not so knowingly cool, which is good, because this South London collective sound like they really are having more of a good time than worrying about their haircuts.

  • This is a fun song nice and upbeat. I'd need to hear more matertial but this song in particular sounds like I have heard it before - I don't think it sounds that original. They could try something a bit different.

  • The tracks on Gecko's myspace don't blow me away. I'm going to stay on this though as I can definitely hear potential.
