Bio

Strong, authorative vocal with riffs that prick up your ears and grab your attention. The lads deserve all the attention they can get. A band who gig hard and it’s paying off. Vicki Blight (Absolute Radio DJ) Crisp tight arrangements and fresh, vigorous musicianship, topped off by lovely impassioned vocals. An emerging London band to watch with interest in 2012… Tom Robinson (BBC 6Music) There hasn’t been a track by this band I haven’t liked – they’re perverts for a pace change, always keeping the listener guessing. And goodness me, don’t they know how to suckerpunch with a big, tuneful chorus? Pete Donaldson (Absolute Radio DJ) The Stowaways deal in top-drawer melodies and all-round giddy charm. ‘Monroe’ is a surefire hit-in-waiting, illustrating just how effective the band have been in creating a new, refreshing brand of indiepop. Jamie’s vocals are as soulful as they are sincere, riding on a rhythm section whose ballsy groves provide the song with admirable depth. Charlie Ashcroft (Amazing Radio) The Stowaways are a lively, cool indie outfit who we’re chuffed to work with on FHM.com. We believe they’re set for a very promising future… Adam Gold (FHM) Visit us at www.thestowawaysmusic.com for more info about the band!!

  • Loves me a bit of jingly jangly indie... The monster drums, the epic guitars and riff will bop you in your face pretty much from a few seconds in. Wouldn't be surprised if these guys popped up on my playlist in the near future alongside Two Door Cinema Club, Vaccines and Bombay Bicycle Club..

  • Starts off with a wall of uncompromising electro roar, finds its indie nook by chorustime. Very enjoyable!

  • Time For Change is one of those risky titles that may send an unintended subliminal message to the listener. There's a lot of stuff packed in here: busy, rampaging drum beats, a soaring vocal line fighting it out with a counterpoint guitar part, falsetto chorus chants, and a serpentine, crashing, riffing middle-eight/instrumental bridge. It stops abruptly at 4 minutes, as if somebody pulled the plug, leaving you wondering what exactly it was all about. A fashionable and ambitious sound.

  • Epic well played Indie the likes of which I'm a bit of a sucker for, especially when it has this much melody. Not overewhelmingly original but this much class cannot be denied - hope it works live too. I will check !

  • Review of the track "Monroe" - - A good bit of angular indie pop from The Stowaways. Jangly, head boppy and sing a long is always a decent combination and it is working fine here. Not sure if I like the quite random breaks in music but some people may get a kick from that. Monroe may not set the world a light but it does have the odd flourish of creativity in the guitar department.

  • Review for the track "Mechanical" -- Following on from my previous glowing review of this band, they have surely not failed to disappoint, but in fact simply blown me away even more. From the get-go they grab your attention with funky, daring electronic beats that fill their entire sound. They then take everything up a notch with their riotous, frantic guitar chords and storming percussion. The vocals are by far a particular favourite for me, as they carry out the subtlety of the verses with sublime delicacy but never fail to explode and deliver in the dramatic choruses. Absolutely perfect, without doubt one of my favourite new bands.

  • Review for the track "Monroe" - - - Quite often, I hear new indie-rock bands attempting the genre and I will always say that I like their sound but they fail to set themselves apart from an over-saturated genre. The Stowaways, however, have completely made an entire name for themselves and an entire sound to go with it. They are completely on the money in every way. The introduction made me think I could see what was coming, but as soon as the verse hit, the band just exploded. The vocals command the stage in such a way that compels you to see them live. The guitar strings are plucked with razor like precision and the drums hit with military style force - the band make you excited about them because they deliver a sense of excitement and enthusiasm through their music. I expect big things from these guys.

  • Review for the track "Mechanical" - There hasn't been a track by this band I haven't liked - they're perverts for a pace change, always keeping the listener guessing. And goodness me, don't they know how to suckerpunch with a big, tuneful chorus?

  • Reveiew for the track "Monroe" - Put simply, a hugely accomplished rock track – from what I've been able to gather online, they've got one hell of a following – and from what I've seen here, their disciples aren't far wrong...
