Q. How did you first get into playing music?

I got a guitar for Christmas when I was 10, and started having lessons, then when I was 13 played my first gig in a pub and loved it! I went to as many Open Mic Nights and Jam Nights as possible, and it all started there really.

Q. How long have you been performing?

Nearly 8 years now, and writing music for about the same length of time!

Q. How would you describe your sound in one sentence?

Explosive, New-Wave Soul with an Indie twist!

Q. What makes your music unique?

It has the sentiment and lyrics that are heartfelt and emotionally compatible with the audience, but with a band that makes you wanna dance to it!

Q. What inspires you to write songs?

Other songwriters (Lennon, Albarn, Weller...). I like to invent characters and situations and make stories out of them too, as well as drawing in aspects of personal experiences.

Q. What have been your best and worst gig experiences?

Best: Portsmouth Guildhall was great just because it's such an amazing venue to play at! Worst: A pub in Portsmouth; the pub was a shambles and the landlord was serving drinks and food in a t-shirt, flip-flops and his boxers...

Q. If you had to listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be?

Well, any album would become boring after a certain amount of time but I would say Kasabian (West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum), The Jam (Direction, Reaction, Creation) or The Beatles (White Album or Abbey Road) - too tough to pick one though!

Q. What do you get up to when you’re not making music?

Promoting my music, tweeting, emailing, messaging, ringing people, spreading the word!

Q. What are your goals at the moment?

Getting a manager is a definite goal, and to get radio play on some mainstream radio stations.

Q. What have you been working on lately? Any new tracks or gigs lined up?

Some new tracks in the pipeline, looking at going back into the studio very soon. A couple of gigs at the Southsea Bandstand over the summer (7th July and 26th August) and then the big one is the 100 Club (Oxford Street) on the 2nd September! A venue I've always wanted to play at and will be a great night.

Q. What do you think of Unsigned Band Review?

AMAZING! Well worth checking out :)

Q. What is the name of the last track that you wrote and what is it about?

'Hey Big Shot' - a certain bloke that you can normally find in a mainstream night club, if you look round, no matter where you are, you'll see him...

Q. What was the music scene like where you grew up?

It was good, always local gigs happening and live music going on somewhere, lots of pubs and clubs with live bands etc but it's always nice to branch out and test the water elsewhere...

  • A huge, huge production - with a vocal that's purer than driven Buckley. Big.

  • Anyone who describes themselves as Nostalgic fills me with the fear. So, we have a very strummy acoustic guitar and an awful synth sound trying to be strings. It is slightly lifted by Andy's voice which is ok in a pop/folky style. But overall this isn't for me.

Buzz

  • Love the arrangement on this, and the production is great. He’s telling a common story but in a new way and thats awesome. His voice and style is so british. Also, his hair is nearly as good as mine. Which is a very hard feat. A billion out of 10 (Minus 1 for trying to beat the hair.)
