Introduction

With Daniel Browne on vocals and his brother Toby on guitars, the line up is completedd with Michael 'Rooster' Soyombo on drums...this 3 piece London based band mix blues, rock, country and alternative sounds to a backdrop of moody introspection...

Bio

Q. How did you first get into playing music?

Rooster: After taking bass lessons, i decided to form a band as a proper hobby, (getting lashed in bar every weekend was sarting to get boring especially when you wake up the next morning and realise your dates name's called Boris)...

Q. How long have you been performing?

As a band we've been performing since 2009, but that disbanded in 2012 and after that, the remaining members formed TRV...

Q. How would you describe your sound in one sentence?

'F****d up melodic blues, sipping moody whiskey rock'...

Q. What makes your music unique?

The 3 people that make up the band...the guitarist is of an indie/alternative background, the rooster, country, blues, that sort of thing and the lead singer moody, sparse and instrospective...kind of anyway!!!....

Q. What inspires you to write songs?

We all work with disadvantaged people, those of mental health illness, social outcasts etc but we haven't come across any band that tries to express what they feel about rejection and unrequited love (Ladders), potential loss and loneliness (say it ain't so), schizophrenia and worrying about failure (Monkey off my back), but told from their point of view...same themes as you and i, but told from a troubled point of view, perspective, perception etc...in the end, we're not so different form those guys anyway...

Q. What have been your best and worst gig experiences?

The Lexington sums up those experiences... werocked up as a last minute replacement for a band that pulled out...sound checked and we went down like a lead ballon (normally, we'd play ladders and get some appreciation). This night, we may have just escaped from Pentoville, with a 'wanted dead not alive' tag attached to us...At the set, no-one was in the room, half way through the 1st song, it filled up and by the end of the gig, we felt like we owned the place...but we learned a valuable lesson that night...'Even if you give birth to an ugly baby, no matter what anyone says, you have to give it everything you've got, cos you love it...it's you and your baby that matters in the end and if one person loves what you produced, job done as a parent'...

Q. If you had to listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be?

Not fair!!!...believe it or not, anything by Fela Kuti...

Q. What do you get up to when you’re not making music?

Apart from our day jobs,The lead singers a dad, the guitarist aprreciates all things art (missus is an artist) and the rooster's a bonafide womaniser...

Q. What are your goals at the moment?

Just to enjoy what we do...have a lot of fun, play alot of live gigs and if anything comes out of that (that could lead us to making a living off it), then that's a bonus!!!...

Q. What have you been working on lately? Any new tracks or gigs lined up?

we've already got a back catalogue of new tunes that need finishing as well as a host of gigs lined up that'll take us to 2013...

Q. What do you think of Unsigned Band Review?

Its a very very useful communtiy medium that helps budding artists...we need all thehelp we can get, no matter what you want to get out of it and it's good to know there is a medium that appreciates that...

Q. What is the name of the last track that you wrote and what is it about?

Wow, now you ask...we written quite a bit but the 2 that spring to mind is 'Running man', which is about a man who's wronged people, fled and just as he's about to receive some form of redemption, he feels he's not worthy, so flees again...decsribes alot of people really, just running from who they can become if they only forgave themselves. The other is 'Toy On The Roadside' (rooster's favourite)...about being abandoned by someone who you thought loved you..incidently, Luxor from Toy Story 3 was the inspiration (lead singers daughters favourite Toy...for now ha!!!)....

Q. What was the music scene like where you grew up?

The brothers grew up in Suffolk, so folky, but not very vibrant, Rooster grew up in Africa, so everything was a party...pots, pans, and you're in a band...
