Introduction

3 Manchester lads writing 3 minute pop gems

Bio

Betwixt the slagheaps in the pocket of Leeds, assemble the folk of trivial town Castleford, wherin lay the reticently sagacious Jim Brown & the mirthfully waggish Martin Sherwood. Upon a serendipitous rendezvous beneath the grease mantle, they concocted a musical formula in the guise of Smoulder latterly Giraffe. Misconstucted by discernable discerment they fled west to the wetlands of Manchester. Within the interior of an inanimate bryll cream factory, a loftier B & S adorned garment endeared yesteryear of affluent ensembleges via Tawana from the greenery swathed Letchworth he drummed a year of jiggery pokery emanated the crystallisation of ONIONS as we know them.

Q. How did you first get into playing music?

All lived together at Uni in our second year and started things up from then.

Q. How long have you been performing?

Since 2007

Q. How would you describe your sound in one sentence?

3 minute pop gems with a twist or without a twist.

Q. What makes your music unique?

Great lyrics to go with great melodies and great harmonies.

Q. What inspires you to write songs?

General shitness of life

Q. What have been your best and worst gig experiences?

Best gig experience was playing at Glastonbury Unsigned twice. The only band to do so.Great seeing all the big names and getting to chat and drink with them. Worst gig experience was playing in a nightclub and the power cutting out just as we kicked into our first chorus.

Q. If you had to listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be?

Queen's A Night At The Opera

Q. What do you get up to when you’re not making music?

Drinking and drinking

Q. What are your goals at the moment?

Martin scored one the other day on the volley, set up by a nifty one two between Jim and Chris. Martin hit a sweet cross to Chris who put in an overhead kick from 18 yards out. Jim lobbed the keeper from 30 yards out with his knee.

Q. What have you been working on lately? Any new tracks or gigs lined up?

First album due out mid May with second album already completed and third album half way to completion

Q. What do you think of Unsigned Band Review?

It's nice.Some random great opportunities.

Q. What is the name of the last track that you wrote and what is it about?

Mythical Animals which is about mythical animals in a dream

Q. What was the music scene like where you grew up?

80s rock played by middle aged bands. One of us loved it.The other two didn't.

  • Interesting loose as quicksand Indie hybrid. It's the vocals and harmonies that set them apart - that and the fact that one section sounds like it's been flown in from a Pere Ubu record. Strange, witty and not without charm.
