Introduction
Recently lauded as 'South Wales' best kept secret', Cardiff-based band Fjords are releasing their first EP, Dead Diamonds on 24th September 2012.
Bio
"Rock edifices cut by ice and forged through time and pressure." FJORDS have already shared billing with Niki & The Dove, Kill It Kid, The Kabeedies and The Phantom Band as well as having studio time kindly provided by the Manic Street Preachers. Working under a DIY ethic, a limited edition single entitled Listen To Me is currently available upon request. Fjords' first EP "Dead Diamonds" is slated for release in September 2012. "The words ‘next big thing’ are frequently thrown around in the music industry though more often than not they are largely inaccurate. However, listening to Fjords, a five piece electro/indie outfit from Cardiff, it’s hard not to get excited and predict just that." The AMP "It’s not often that something entirely fresh and eclectically invigorating bursts onto the Cardiff scene" http://themmp.tv/features/interview-fjords/ "Fjords are becoming one of this city’s best kept musical secrets and that…needs to change" http://themmp.tv/live/fjords-buffalo-29-june/

Q. How did you first get into playing music?
I started playing the drums after listening to the Stone Roses and The Charlatans when I was 15. Then got together with some friends and played covers.
Q. How long have you been performing?
I've been doing gigs for the last 11yrs
Q. How would you describe your sound in one sentence?
A cross between David Bowie, Duran Duran and Maximo Park.
Q. What makes your music unique?
Our sound
Q. What inspires you to write songs?
Things that have happened and songs we've heard.
Q. What have been your best and worst gig experiences?
Our best was supporting Kill it Kid in Clwb Ifor Bach, it was awesome. Our worst was probably in a tiny pub in Bristol where we all couldn't fit on stage, and my drum machine broke.
Q. If you had to listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be?
Toughie....The Holy Bible - The Manic Street Preachers
Q. What do you get up to when you’re not making music?
Mountain biking or watching live bands
Q. What are your goals at the moment?
Trying to build a bigger fan base, get a manager and get signed.
Q. What have you been working on lately? Any new tracks or gigs lined up?
We've been recording an EP at the moment with 4 tracks. It should be ready in the next few weeks. We've got one gig confirmed on 25th April at Undertone, Cardiff. And we've got a few in the pipeline.
Q. What do you think of Unsigned Band Review?
We think its a vital tool for unsigned bands. Its brilliant!
Q. What is the name of the last track that you wrote and what is it about?
Strata Florida, a place in Mid Wales
Q. What was the music scene like where you grew up?
Very vibrant, great for unsigned bands
