"'Not Perfect' - Sunday Night Music Club's pick of the week on Absolute Radio! Love the band name and love the track. Indie pop rock with attitude. The main hook is particularly infectious." - Sarah Champion, Absolute Radio

IC1s are a London-based indie rock group that have built up a huge fan following as well as rave industry reviews. They have shared stages with The Cribs, The Charlatans, Bloc Party, and Buzzcocks to name just a few. Their strong, catchy lyrics and energetic stage presence has put them firmly in the "one to watch" category. Their track "Not Perfect" has been featured on the first Emerging Icons compilation album, curated by Kaiser Chiefs. Hear their songs, read their reviews and watch their videos HERE.

How did you first get into playing music?

I think Dan our vocalist had the hairbrush microphone out as soon as Nirvana’s ‘Bleach’ album came out, I was about 2 miles away jumping around playing a tennis racket to Ugly Kid Joe, just happens doesn’t it?

How long have you been playing?

We’ve only been playing together for 11 months! But we have all been in other bands before IC1s.

How would you describe your sound in one sentence?

Oasis and Sex Pistols supergroup, covering The Beatles with Kurt Cobain singing! How about that? Or as our vocalist Dan puts it “Reacquainting you with the hairs on the back of your neck!” Modestly put.

What makes your music unique?

Nowadays, there aren’t a lot of bands who are, everything’s been done so unless you are playing a sitar with 1 string upside on your head and sing in latin it’s hard to be unique in its true definition. It’s not generic and we aren’t trying to do something fashionable, I think we are fairly unique when we look around at what other bands are trying to do.

What inspires you to write songs?

Our lives and experiences, the real things. It’s strange, a lot of popular music at the moment is about glorifying money, so you have all these people singing along about their ‘Benz’ and their bank accounts, when they don’t drive or have anything, I find that quite funny. We certainly sing about more realistic things, our song ‘Not Perfect’ is about a girl who isn’t good enough for you, but she will do! and ‘Whack Jack’ is about a stalker!
