Since we first met Erin K there’s been a lot of drastic change, radical development and amazing progress in her career… which is why we now welcome her to take the stage as one of our Emerging Icons Headliners!

When we first started working with Erin K, there was an ‘& Tash’ at the end of her name, and another lady by her side. Penning sweet n’ sour tunes that combined acoustic guitar with cheeky, and at times, caustic lyrics; the twosome had earned themselves a plenty of recognition on London’s anti-folk scene. With the capital conquered, it was time to take things to the next stage… and that’s where Emerging Icons came in.

We instantly recognised the star quality and potential in this act, so Erin K & Tash were invited to be showcased for 4Music and Dan O’Connell at our gig at the Camden Barfly. It’s hard to take your eye off performers like this. You find yourself tuning in to every word as you come to recognise the original and brutally open approach to their songwriting. See for yourself:

They returned to perform for us again, but this time for pop-up gig experience,  The Station Sessions. With so many amazing signed artists including Ed Sheeran and Michael Kiwanuka turning their hand to these surprise shows, only our acts of the highest calibre were going to be able to be able to represent our brand to the public. Naturally, Erin K & Tash had to be there:

Bring the trendy so-and-so’s they were, they also proved to be a fantastic choice for a thoroughly fabulous opportunity that came up with secretsales.com. The pair were chosen from thousands of acts on Emerging Icons to be sent to the company’s HQ for an exclusive styling session and photoshoot with a team of professional make-up artists, fashionistas and ex-Vogue photographers. This ain’t no ‘makeover’ either- these guys tap into the very essence of their subject and make the exterior package to match that creative spark within. Check out how they interpreted the Erin K & Tash vibe here:

Inevitably, things really started taking off and the duo started getting mentioned in the press' big leagues. We took them onto 6music after we were asked to recommend an artist to play on our exclusive interview with Tom Robinson. They were even asked to go and do an interview with him and spoke pretty highly of us too…

They also found themselves on Radio 1 when they asked us onto the show to review some signed bands – but we made sure that we’d be able to introduce an unsigned band in return. They absolutely loved Erin K & Tash, and they subsequently got the "pick of the week" on BBC Introducing and played the next night on Huw Stephens' show.

Despite all of the exposure, things came to a very brief halt earlier this year as ‘& Tash’ packed up her guitar and Erin K became a solo act. We became one of the first to hear the new incarnation of the act, as the newly single singer joined us for a Webstival session:

After hearing how great her acoustic performance sounded, we couldn’t wait to see her entertain the global masses when she took to our stage in the Olympic Park. With over fifty likes on her profile and her track record of brilliance, we had to get her on our line-up. As well as being great exposure, it was obviously a cracking day out too:

‘Coins’ has made it onto our upcoming album, so soon you can get your Erin K fix all over your iTunes as well as your Emerging Icons playlists.

Yes, exciting times are a-coming, and with Headliners like this taking the stage, you just know you’re going to want heading back to keep up with Erin K's progress.
